Our Canada Music Week recital and presentation will be Sunday, November 21 from 2:00 to 4:30 PM at the Calvin Presbyterian Church, 3311 Ashburn Avenue, Halifax.

Our presenter will be Daniel MacNeil. Daniel is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator based in Halifax. He is the founder and director of Halifax, Nova Scotia’s New World Music Ensemble, in which he composes, and performs guitar and oud. He is a performer composer, and collaborator in a diverse range of “world music” genres. He is also a new member of the Halifax Chapter of NSRMTA! His presentation is called “Harnessing Inspiration”.

Students of piano, violin and guitar will perform works by Canadian composers or original compositions.

We will also have a table for used music that teachers want to re-cycle for a small donation. Please bring your offerings for this table the day of the event, and let Diana know if you have something to share. It has also been suggested that we have a bake sale with items wrapped and labeled for ingredients. These two suggestions will be a small part of our fundraising efforts for the Halifax Chapter.

Come and join us for this event to celebrate the inspiration of Canadian composers!

November 2018

Our Canada Music Week Recitals will take place on Sunday, November 18 at the Alderney Gate Public Library, 60 Alderney Drive in Dartmouth, in the Helen Creighton room.

Halifax and Dartmouth are having  joint recitals in honour of the President of  the CFMTA, Tiffany Wilson, who is visiting Nova Scotia that weekend.

The first recital will begin at 2:00 PM, and the second recital will begin at approximately 3:15 PM.

All students will play pieces by Canadian composers, or an original composition. Students may say a few words about the composer before they play, or exhibit an art work that expresses something about the composition that they perform.

Tiffany Wilson will be speaking to teachers, parents and students during each concert. We are delighted to have her visit us!
