The Atlantic Young Artist Competition will take place in Brunton Auditorium on the campus of Mount Allison University on Saturday, April 21. Six pianists will be competing.
The competitors and order of performance will be:
- 10:00 Martine Jomphe, NB
- 11:00 Kathryn Wagner, NS
- 1:00 Tabitha Payzant, Nfld
- 2:00 Chantal Peng, NS
- 3:15 Andrew Son, NS
- 4:00 Gina Hyunmin Lee, ON (from NB)
Each will present a varied recital program lasting between 35-45 minutes. The results of the day’s competition will be announced at approximately 5:15 following all performances.
Richard Boulanger will be the adjudicator for this year’s competition. Dr. Boulanger is currently active as a concert pianist and full professor of music history and piano at the Université de Moncton in the province of New Brunswick.
There is no admission charge. Teachers, students and the public are cordially invited to attend to hear these talented young musicians perform.
The Atlantic Young Artist Competition and Tour are projects of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Associations and its provincial counterparts in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island. The competition is open to pianists, singers and instrumentalists between the ages of 16 and 25 (27 for singers) who are currently studying with a Registered Music Teacher.
